I imagine I’ll start this blog off by gradually rolling out a few sources I return to time and again, interspersed with stuff I run across afresh. The first that sprang to mind was Bruce Schneier. Schneier is a much-fêted and oft-quoted writer and consultant, and one of the sanest and most original voices on the subject of security technology. As we submit to increasingly cynical surveillance and invasive screening procedures, Schneier repeatedly punctures the myths that governments perpetuate in the name of security. I won’t pre-empt the man here, although I’ll be referring to him often, usually to flag up new items either on his website or in the free monthly newsletter Crypto-Gram. Schneier links profusely, and is a great source for eye-opening exposés on actual and planned state and commercial security scams, I mean, schemes.
